Emilia Rennhack, off-duty at the time, was inside the nail salon when the SUV crashed through its front window. She served as a police officer in Queens’ 102nd Precinct, and her sudden passing has deeply saddened her colleagues and community.

The incident occurred when the driver, Steven Schwally, allegedly drove through a parking lot in a southbound Chevrolet Traverse, crossed Grand Boulevard, and crashed into the nail salon. Schwally was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and remains hospitalized pending charges.
