Traditional Irish Brown Bread: A Hearty and Wholesome Recipe

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a loaf pan.

In a bowl, mix 2 cups of whole wheat flour, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of salt.

Make a well in the center and add 1 and 3/4 cups of buttermilk.

Stir until a sticky dough forms.

Transfer dough to the prepared loaf pan, shaping it into a rough ball.

Score a deep cross on top of the dough.

Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

Let cool before slicing and serving with butter or cheese.
