Classic Sugar Cookies: Simple and Delicious Homemade Treats

Cream together 1 cup of softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until well combined.

 In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

 Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.

Roll the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.

Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

 Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
