He continued to pursue his passion, working his way up from kennel helper to veterinary technician at Morganna Animal Clinic, where he gained invaluable experience under the mentorship of Dr. David Beauchamp. This early exposure solidified his dedication to veterinary practice and inspired him to pursue formal education in the field.
Dr. Kent Smith’s Career and Contributions
In 1998, Dr. Kent Smith earned admission to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, receiving his veterinary doctorate in 2002. He embarked on his professional career in Roanoke Valley, Virginia, practicing general medicine in Botetourt County before joining Angels of Assisi in Roanoke, where he provided essential veterinary care to low-income families.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kent Smith combined his veterinary expertise with his background in biology and economics, which he studied at Virginia Tech. He utilized his skills as a business manager for Dr. Chiapella’s practice for 27 years, earning trust and admiration for his financial acumen and dedication to animal welfare.
