Joe Elmore, born in 1944 in Paragould, Arkansas, was a beloved television personality, writer, and producer who connected deeply with audiences in his home state of Tennessee.
Starting his television career as a weekend reporter and anchor at WHBQ in Memphis, Joe went on to host “Tennessee Crossroads” at WNPT in Nashville beginning in 1987. He also co-hosted NBC Sports’ “Detroit Muscle,” a weekly show celebrating American muscle car culture.
From 1997 to 2013, he hosted Spike TV’s premier high-performance automotive show, “Horsepower.”

Colleagues and viewers of “Tennessee Crossroads” remember him as soft-spoken, humble, and a true gentleman—a role model for many.
Bob Mueller, WKRN News 2 anchor and Nashville’s longest-running television personality, described Elmore as “a legend in local broadcasting.”
Additionally, Joe was actively involved in fundraising events for various causes. His most recent fundraising appearance was on Nashville Public Television during the month of March.
